I Got Tivo!

On my way to work this morning i came up with a couple of lines for a new piece. I’ve started to write poetry again after a very museless hiatus. I remember when i used to go to sleep at night i would dream of words and lines, alliterations and allusions then repeat them over and over again in my head for safekeeping until i got a pen and paper in my hand or a keyboard beneath my fingers. I was watching Def Poetry the other night…yess people I finally have cable again (woo hoo) AND Tivo!, anyway I was watching the poets and i was thinking to myself, damn, way back when i could imagine me and a couple of my other close word gifted friends performing on that stage, introduced by Mos Def by our poetic names, alighting the crowd with our clever aptitude for wordsmithing. I heard and saw those performances and thought…why not me? What happened to me? what’s my inspiration? Why don’t I dream in surround thoughts and abstract colors anymore? Life happened. it keeps going and i’m running to keep up, so I’m stuck. Trying to shift up to the next gear when i find myself off in reverse.

In other news, my little broomstick brother is engaged! Kent a.k.a. shetland pony is gonna be a married man. I still can’t believe it. I’m so happy for him. I am gonna walk him down the aisle and give him away. LOL. Seriously though i wish all the best for him and am so happy that he found someone he wants to spend his life with. He will never be too old for me to whoop him though, married or not.

*i smashed my finger in my boyfriends car door. it still hurts, and it’s ugly. at least all my other nails are french tipped so i won’t look like i handle cast iron skillets for a living.

I have been going CD DVD crazy a little lately and there are media that i have yet to collect… so far:

Smallville Seasons 4&5, Party of Five Seasons 1&2, The Critic The Complete 2 Seasons, Kids, Sound of Music, The Prestige and The Departed, Anne of Green Gables (yes i know)and one other i can’t think of at the moment. I aspire to finish up these incomplete season collections and then move on to Charmed, Sex and the City, Melrose Place, 90210, Futurama, Lois and Clark, Back to the Future 1, 2, and 3 (its a movie i know). More to come. *Anyone good with some conflict resolution advice? Cuz I could really use some now.
